Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the Grande Prairie region. Extremely cold temperatures are expected over most of central and northern Alberta today and tonight, and this weather pattern is expected to remain throughout the week, with wind chills hitting the -30 range this afternoon, tonight, and on Wednesday. The public is being urged to keep an eye out for cold related symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath and muscle pain. Exposure to such temperatures can create a higher risk of frost bite or hypothermia. Environment Canada also warns that if it is too cold for people to go outside, it is also too cold for pets to stay outside.
