Five teens facing charges after getting caught trespassing in Wembley

Five teens are facing several charges after police caught them trespassing and breaking into vehicles just after 1:00AM on Tuesday in Wembley, Alberta. RCMP were called out to a residence following reports of individuals wearing hooded sweaters scouring vehicles. The suspects fled the area before Mounties arrived, but officers patrolling the neighborhood were able to locate three 15-year old boys, a 17-year old boy and a 17-year old girl, who were responsible for thieving items from multiple vehicles, as well as, damaging property. RCMP were able to recover the stolen items and return them to the owners. Because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the teens cannot be named. They have been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of theft under $5000, six counts of mischief under $5000 and 18 counts of trespassing at night. Two of the teens have also been charged with failing to comply with a sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All five of the them are to appear on May 29th in Provincial Court.
