A man from Grande Prairie is facing child pornography charges after a police investigation that began last December with the help of the Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit and the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre following allegations about the sharing of child pornography on social media. On April 18th, RCMP arrested 54 year old Brian McCausland and charged him with one count each of Possession and Distribution of child pornography. McCausland has since been released on recognizance and is to abide by strict conditions, which include not having contact with persons under the age of 16 and not accessing the internet at any time, until he appears in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on May 29th. Any information about online criminal activity, including child pornography offenses and exploitation, can be reported to your local police department or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-333-8477 (TIPS).
