The completion of Site C concrete work is proving to be costly for Peace region employment.
Sixty Site C employees were laid off this week, with more layoffs expected on the horizon due to the shutdown of specialized concrete work for the winter season.
This recent batch of layoffs is being attributed to the completion of roller compacted concrete work at the site.
According to Peace River Hydro Partners, more layoffs are already pending for later this month.
The polarizing clean energy project currently employs nearly 26 hundred people, 97 percent of which are from B-C, and 45 percent from the Peace.
