Mark Phillips, the man convicted of murdering 24 year old Amber Diebert and 30 year old Jody Topilko in 2015, has been handed two 15-year sentences with no chance of parole for 30 years. The 28 year old plead guilty to two counts of second degree murder on Tuesday in Grande Prairie Court of Queen’s Bench. Phillips is already serving seven years for a 2014 drug bust, the largest fentanyl bust in Grande Prairie at the time, where RCMP seized over 1,800 fentanyl pills. The bodies of Diebert and Topilko were found within a few kilometres of one another in a rural area west of Clairmont just two days apart in December of 2015.
