Pattern Energy group has announced that its Meikle Wind Power facility near Tumbler Ridge received the Project Excellence Award from Clean Energy BC.

In a release, Jae Mather, Executive Director of Clean Energy BC, says the facility is “an outstanding example of how to bring together zero-carbon energy generation, local economic development, and sustainable business”.

The 179-megawatt facility used more than 500,000 person-hours of labor, with more than 30 percent of the value of contracts awarded to First Nations-affiliated contractors and regional firms. The facility held its grand opening earlier this year.
