With the holiday season, and more importantly, decorating season, nearly upon us, the Ministry of Forests is making sure everyone keeps it legal.

The Ministry is reminding residents to seek out a permit before attempting to cut down any trees for Christmas.

It is strictly illegal to chop down trees in certain areas without permits.

There are designated areas for people who do wish to bring home a tree where they can do so safely, and legally.

The Free Use Permits, available for downloading and printing online, allow you to chop down one tree that is less than 5 meters in height before December 25th.

You can find the Peace permits at this link.
