Yesterday saw the start of three days’ worth of hearings being held in Dawson Creek by the National Energy Board.
The hearings are in relation to a TransCanada application to modify the North Montney Mainline Project.
TransCanada filed the application on behalf of subsidiary NOVA Gas Transmission Limited, to allow gas from the pipeline to flow east to avoid LNG terminals being built on the west coast.
The proposed changes would require the building of eight additional meter stations.
Other companies have opposed the plan, saying that it will flood the Alberta market with natural gas.
The Dawson Creek hearings are being held at the Stonebridge Hotel through Thursday.
