The deluge continues today in the South Peace after Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning yesterday evening.
The warning calls for rain to be heavy at times, and we’re expecting up to 50 mm of rain by this afternoon. The system is then expected to weaken and move south.
Environment Canada reminds you that heavy rains can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.
Meanwhile, Grande Prairie saw a record amount of rainfall yesterday. According to Environment Canada, the area received 26.6 millimeters, breaking the previous record for the day of 20.3 millimeters, set in 1971. They’re expecting another 10 to 20 millimeters to fall today, which could break another record.
