Fort St John RCMP are cracking down on defective and illegally modified vehicles this fall.

Fines of up to 600 dollars are being issued for vehicles that do not meet certain standards.

These standards include:

  • Vehicle ride height,
  • Unkempt or improperly aimed headlights,
  • Lack of mudflaps,
  • Illegally tinted windows,
  • Damaged windshields,
  • and improperly mounted license plates or vehicles displaying only one plate.

With increasing numbers of these modifications, police are looking to get a handle on them before the winter season comes along and they increase danger levels through already treacherous northern winters.
