Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement because of rain that is forecasted for the Peace Region. Rainfall is set to begin tonight and continue throughout the weekend. The Weather Network is reporting that upwards of 70mm is expected and large amounts will fall over the eastern slopes and higher elevations of the Rockies. This rain, combined with the spring snow melt, will lead to rising water levels and may increase the risk of flooding.
