The District of Taylor is getting a head start on marijuana management in the area.
Council has passed a bylaw that will ban all dispensing, cultivating, and selling of cannabis within the district’s limits.
This comes following the provincial government’s announcement earlier in the week regarding their plans for the sale of the product, which will become legal country-wide on July 1st.
On top of banning retail sale in all zones, the new bylaw will also limit the sales of medical marijuana, preventing it from being sold in light or heavy industrial zones.
Only four residents attended the open meeting, with no opposition, though council did receive one letter protesting the amendment.
