(Chetwynd) Help Needed
The Chetwynd Outdoor Society is working on developing a Nordic Centre which includes a number of services including a network of cross country ski trails, a learning area for kids, coach certification and a warming hut.
Up to and including January 31st. the Cross Country BC Fund Raiser group will match donations to the Chetwynd Outdoor Society and provide federal CRA tax receipts.
Residents are encouraged to assist the Chetwynd Outdoor Society on or before the end of the month to take advantage of this incentive.
Donations can be directed to chetoutdoors.wordpress.com or on the Country Outdoor Society Facebook page.
This group wishes to add to and to improve the trails, which originally were developed in 1992 when Chetwynd was declared the Forestry Capital of Canada.
The original log shed was built by Don Swanton and a crew under a Green-Gold Grant given to the community by our MP Frank Oberle, then the Ministry of Forests.
The 1992 Committee was headed by Dennis Sabourin (the Lost Hippie) and members included George Kalischuk, Leo Sabulsky, Gerry Smith and many others.
