TransCanada announced this morning that they are moving forward with the North Monteny Mainline Project earlier than expected, meaning more jobs could be on the way for northeast BC. The company said they have filed a variance application with the National Energy Board to proceed with construction of the project, which would allow TransCanada to proceed before a decision is made on the Pacific Northwest LNG. TransCanada already been granted the required primary federal and provincial approvals to go ahead of schedule. With regulatory approvals, the company would begin construction in the first half of 2018, with facilities being phased into service over a two-year period, beginning in April 2019.
