Peace FM is a community radio station! We encourage persons to volunteer and become (amateur) radio stars. We are pleased to offer specialty shows delivered by volunteers who have special interests.

Do you have a special interest? Do you want to be a radio star? We welcome new ideas, new forms of entertainment and will welcome persons who wish to do a show in a language other than English. All volunteers are invited to participate and to be respectful of others at all times. Our volunteer contingent makes us different from commercial radio since we encourage creativity and the desire to be heard on air!

The Bollywood Show
with Rubina Dhaliwal

Rubina started her show back in May, 2016, while she was still an international student attending Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek. It was an instant hit. She graduated in 2017 with a diploma in Business Management (specializing in Health Administration) and continues to wow the Peace Region with an amazing diversity of great music from India’s Bollywood industry. Through her show, she not only explains the meaning behind the songs but also shares facts about Indian festivals and how they are celebrated, helping us all to enjoy her culture. She also enjoys sharing positive, encouraging quotes along with poems written straight from her heart.

New Beginnings Gospel Show

The ‘New Beginnings Gospel’ show brings inspirational messages and music that is produced locally for the enjoyment of local listeners. The show is hosted by Kurt Peats who has lived his life all throughout BC. Kurt is a retired RCMP member and served in Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge. Kurt’s show is biblically based and has been on air for over six years. Wake up to new beginnings every Sunday morning!

For the most part, each edition of ATC includes a dozen tunes, a two-song spotlight on a brand new album, a classic blues cut or artist, and emphasis upon both established and independent artists. The over-riding goal is to attract new listeners to the blues, while at the same time satisfying purists and long-time aficionados.

The Bannock Hour

Theresa Gladue hosts The Bannock Hour every Sunday night! She plays music from every genre including Pow Wow, the Blues, Rock and Roll and Country and Western from 7 to 8. Theresa highlights tunes performed by local Métis and First Nations artists including those performed by her relatives. Have a laugh, shed a tear and don’t fear, Theresa has a great show for you every Sunday! Theresa has been on air for four years and everyone throughout the world enjoys her humour and her stories, which are told in both English and Cree!

Midas Well Meditation Hour
with Trish Sullivan & Jane Spenst

Trish co-hosts the Midas Well Meditation Hour with Jane Spenst. The Midas Well Meditation Hour is one of meditation, inspirational quotes and selected tracks of music. Trish talks about the value of meditation, explains the different techniques for meditation and how to recharge energy and reduce personal stress. She focuses on uplifting the heart and finding a space of inner calm and joy. Her sister Jane Spenst assists her in producing her show. The Midas Hour has been produced for over eight years. A warning is in effect: Peace FM is not responsible for your actions if you are meditating, while driving a car or flying a plane.

The Lost Hippie

The Lost Hippie was one of the first volunteers on Peace FM and is famous for the Lost Hippie show (formerly known as “Definitely Not the Opry”). He has been working with Peace FM  since its inception 1996. He started an all day on air campaign encouraging residents to donate to the food hamper. He also started to produce and continues to produce original Remembrance Day Radio Services saluting Canadian veterans. Even though he is living and working on Vancouver Island, The Lost Hippie is loyal to Peace FM and delivers a weekly Show. You can hear music from all genres including classical, opera, jazz, blues, folk, non-traditional rock and Reggae on the Lost Hippie Show. He regularly visits music festivals for Peace FM and does interviews with local musicians like folk singer Odetta, and Reggae Legend Jimmy Cliff.

Locally Yours
with Moneca Hilton

Moneca has lived in the Peace area since 1971 and is an avid supporter of all music live and local. This makes her a perfect host for “Locally Yours”, a show that features musicians from around the Peace. She is also one third of the popular Hugh Spinney Trio, and often performs at music festivals throughout the summer.

Harrowsmith Radio

More than 40 years ago, in 1976, James Lawrence pasted together the first edition of Harrowsmith magazine on his kitchen table in rural Ontario. Totally unique, it was the first Canadian magazine to focus on organic living, alternative energy sources, and a country lifestyle.
